 Ashley

There was a friend of mine who always bought shampoo with tacky container following her sis’ advice. According to her sis, the shampoo company was famous for not wasting  money for the AD, instead they put the money for the quality.
Different with other family retaurants which offers salad bars, ASHLEY is a national brand which means they do not need to pay the royalties. And they do not advertise on TV to lower the cost. For lunch service, it is about 13,000 KRW(about U$10) yet they have the best menu and quality. It might have had the quiet beginning but now the brand has 100 branches over the country.
A few days ago when I went out to Myundong area(one of the biggest downtown in Seoul), I realized the poor quality of the restaurants there once again. Of course, there are lots of stores and great exteriors but well…there are not so many places to go; I stopped by 3 restaurants somehow that day and somehow all were very disappointing.
I wonder if it is too naive to ask to have great look with best quality. And if I have to choose between these two, doesn’t it have to be the inside not the flashy surface..I should have bought  the shampoo too following her long time ago. As I cannot hear the name of the brand anymore, it must have gone bankrupt due to the ignorance of consumers like me.
Anyway, to make it short, do not eat out at Myungdong.

Beori-Korean styled luncheon

It is a Sunday afternoon ritual. Family get together. Went Beori-they say the name means one link of fishing net. (i wonder why they picked this name...hm....)the course starts with a soup (mung-bean gruel ). it's not sweet but gives the creamy warm feeling a grain dish can give in a good way.

And then a salad with kiwi dressing.(No picture) I think they mixed pine apples with kiwi since the dressing color is not green and come to think about it, there is some yellowish taste in it as well.

And green-lentil jelly with vegetables, dried seaweed garnish-my personal favorite. The picture was taken after mixing but in the first place, it looked much more colorful.

Jelly fish salad with fruits dressing. They always put wasabi in the dressing for jelly fish.

And some beef -didn't have time to touch it since I was too busy with other dishes  but my brother said it was good.

Extreamly soft tofu soup with hot pepper.

And rice cake-squid mixing bowl. It is hot but I love it.

Fried mushroom with sweet soured vegetables.

And they serve rice and some other side dishes like below various vegetables that make you feel like you are at mom's place. In Korean restaurant, I mean Korean restaurants in Korea, if you order a course meal, there are going to be some main dishes and at the end you would find the traditional Korean daily meal which means you always have to save some space for later stages.

There were desserts that were not picture taken-obviously I was too busy swallowing and talking. But they were neat, too. I was informed this place from one of my coworkers. It is not in downtown and the public transportation could not reach there but whenever I go, the place is always crowded with families. That shows the taste, I guess.
