See you there ! =)

Jobchai

Jobchai(mixed and stirred vegetables with noodles) and Bulgogi(barbecued beef/pork)  are famous for their tastes. These two dishes originally used to be served on special occasions like New years day or Thanksgiving but as time passes by, they became one of the most beloved dishes for most Koreans' daily cuisines. They are not hot and spicy like Kimchi and also easy to cook once you get to know the recipe. Especially for Jobchai, it would be great way for you to enjoy various seasonal vegetables.

I do not know if other countries have that kind of show too but there is one in Korea. The show that foreigners living in the country come out and tell stories that the difference between Korea and their own country.  One time I heard one German girl said that she had lived in Korea a few years now and hadn't done anything for diet but by just eating Korean food, she lost more than 10kg.(About 22 pound). All I know about German food are Schnitzel and Brochen. They don't seem to be so high calorie. They even look healthy without much salt. I wonder what the reason is. Maybe she walked a lot more than when she was in Germany or it was her timing to lose some weight. ..What I can sure of is that most Korean-at least the people around me eat a lot of vegetables and not too much fried food.
There is one brilliant buffet restaurant called Fresh house in Olympic park  -serving suishi, rolls, salads, some pizza and pasta . If you are not big fan of meat and you like all kinds of salads, and some noodles, this is the right place for healthy diet. Rice with pork cutlet

I know , I know, cutlet is not Korean food...still....it surely is one of Koreans' beloved menus and I had it the other day.  It was more like Japanese style with half cooked egg.  I like chicken and egg but there's  something I cannot understand about this kind of egg. Please somebody tell me the dish I can't be disappointed with half cooked egg.  Until then, it is kind of off-limits for me.

Bibimbob

Thanks to Korean air, Bibimbob has been recognized by many people.
Recently I had this stomach problem that goes more severe whenever I have meals made of wheat which include all kinds of noodle(sadly my favorite), pizza, and bread.
Since I am a big fan of noodle and pizza, this winter seem to be quite long for me.
Anyway for that reason, Bibimbob became my menu whenever I have chances to eat out.
It looks too ordinary to eat bob(rice in Korean) when you eat out. But it is also very well known to your stomach. With lots of vegatable, it always promises comfortable feeling inside.
With well done-egg, it would be better for me, surely better.

Rice with Seafood

Come to think of it, it is really hard to eat traditional Korean food everyday when you are in Korea.
When you go far away from home, you miss what you used to eat in your hometown but when you are where you have been, you eat this and that.
So here is another of 'this and that'. Rice with seafood. I had it the other day at Chinese restaurant called 'Rak and Wock' in Ilsan , a city about 1 hour away from Seoul.
Just like Chinese food in the States,  Chinese food in Korea has special touch.  It could be hot and spicy just like Korean food.  And any kind of the menu could be served with a bowl of rice or rice under the main munu and it matches well. And variation of Korean style.  I guess I can't miss the chance of mentioning  Zajangmyun, noodle with black sauce . It is the most popular Chinese dish in Korea  you have to try , which is not available in China.  Anybody, trust me, anybody who was born and raised in Korea has the memory eating Zajangmyun making all the mess around the mouth when she or he was young. Some people eat it when the partner is not their ideal type on a blind date to show their ugly side.
Try Chinese restaurant when you are in Korea . You could find another Korea.
